8vo. (7 by 9 inches), 258 pp. Red cloth with gilt titles, adornments, and edges, no dust jacket. Color weathercock frontis and numerous B&W and color illustrations. Presumed first as previous author's name and the date '1908' are written on half-title page. Spine slightly shaken; moderate shelfwear to spine ends with some darkening;  and surface tear to opposite page at top left corner; plate at pp. 88 loose but laid in; gutter splitting at pp. 72; occasional foxing and fading to block pages.


A magical weathercock befriends a 'backward' baby who cannot speak the language of the grownups.
